Rev: Ithaca Startup Works is seeking two paid summer student interns! Join the team for our summer Hardware Accelerator, where you can meet local startups, network with regional business and tech experts, and spend the summer in a truly unique role in Ithaca’s business incubator.

This program takes eight teams of inventors from idea to prototype and pitch over the course of 11 weeks. The program culminates in Demo Day in mid-August. Though the program has a focus on hardware, many of the teams have an integral app component to their inventions.

Tech Instructor: App Development

Description

The Rev Hardware Accelerator is looking for a student with app development skills to join our tech-mentor team for our summer program.

Responsibilities

Tech Mentors are responsible for mentoring our eight product teams on technology solutions for the products they are developing. Tech Mentors do not build solutions for the teams, but rather help the teams to build their own solutions.

Required Skills

  • Front end development skills
  • A passion for UX design principles
  • Knowledge of wireframing platforms such as Proto.io or InVision
  • Experience with or an interest in mentoring and teaching

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with writing and teaching tutorials
  • Full stack development skills
  • Knowledge of UX testing methods

Time Commitment and Pay

This position is 30 hours a week during Summer 2017, during normal business hours. Candidates can start in Spring, but must to be available from May 15 to August 15, 2017. Wages are $15 per hour.

Operations Assistant

Description

The Rev Hardware Accelerator is looking for a qualified, driven, and self-motivated student to assist with the operations of our summer program.

Responsibilities

This student would be the lead on creating and monitoring timesheets, scheduling, orders, and coordination with guest speakers and workshop facilitators.

Required Skills

  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Confidence with spreadsheets
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Skills

  • An appreciation of technology and startup culture

Time Commitment and Pay

This position is up to 10 hours a week during Spring 2017 and up to 30 hours a week during Summer 2017, during normal business hours. Candidates can start in Spring, but must to be available from May 15 to August 15, 2017. Wages are $10 per hour.
