Equipment List

Our purpose built prototyping shop is designed to help support hardware startups while they are testing out new ideas and designs. We have state of the art equipment to help streamline the prototyping process, and an in-house engineering support team.

Alumni companies

We work on all types of hardware at Rev – from consumer electronics to industrial systems. See some of our success stories below.

Product Realizations: Going from One to a Million – A top hardware choice and great handbook – doesn’t need to be a sit down read but an easy opportunity to jump to “certifications” and figure out what you need to know to get started.

The Informal Hardware Handbook – A good hardware resource written by hardware founders, for hardware founders.

Testing Business Ideas – This is a great resource to make sure you have a plan and are taking an evidence-based approach. Readable, with bite sized prompts and tasks.

Accelerators, Programs, and Shops!

Not all programs are hardware-friendly, and even fewer are hardware-specific. See some of our recommended shops and accelerators below.

Contract manufacturers

Figuring out where and how to build your product is a critical decision for hardware founders. See our map of regional manufacturers, some options for marketplace manufacturers, and more.

Funding Resources

Hardware comes with large upfront costs to launch – so funding often needs to look a bit different.  From crowdfunding, to non-dilutive funding and traditional VC rounds, we’ve seen a bit of everything.

Software for Hardware

It takes a good number of software tools to build hardware products (yes, we see the irony). Check out some free or discounted options below. There are many additional paid options.

Inkscape is a 2D editor, similar to Adobe Illustrator – but free.

Fusion 360 is an entry-level CAD platform.

Solidworks is an industry-level CAD platform  (Rev members/accelerator participants should contact us for their custom signup link!)

Creo is an industry level CAD platform.

Onshape is a cloud-based CAD platform (Rev members/accelerator participants should contact us for their custom signup link!)

KiCad is a schematic and PCB platform – like altium – but free.
