Events and Competitions:

  • 43 North is a global startup competition in which winners relocate to Buffalo for investment capital, incubator space, expert mentorship, and ten years of freedom from state taxes. 
  • Grow-NY is a $1 million food and agriculture business competition focused on growing an enduring innovation cluster in the Grow-NY region. 
  • New York Business Plan Competition, or NYBPC, is an annual competition featuring top teams from every region of New York where student teams compete for prize money and recognition. 
  • Luminate is an accelerator and investment fund that awards $3 million annually to 10 companies from around the world developing emerging solutions in almost every industry. 
  • GENIUS NY is a startup accelerator that invests $3M annually into seed-stage startups focused on uncrewed aerial systems, automation and advanced air mobility. 
  • Hustle, a Defense Accelerator Program, is designed to empower tech startups pioneering advancements in dual use technology. 
  • Fuzehub Commercialization Competition is intended to help small manufacturing and technology companies further develop their prototype in an effort to pursue additional investment and customers as well as strengthen their “go-to-market” strategies. Companies have the chance to be awarded up to $150,000.

  • Eship Listserv allows you to share entrepreneurial news with thousands of Cornell alums, current students, faculty and staff.
  • Empire State Development promotes a growing state economy, encourages business investment and job creation, and supports diverse, local economies across NYS through the use of loans, grants, tax credits, real estate development, marketing, and other forms of assistance.
  • FuzeHub provides New York state manufacturers with guided access to their extensive network of industry experts, programs and assets to solve productivity, commercialization, research and development issues, and other challenges to growth.  
  • Launch NY drives innovation, job creation, and regional growth by equipping founders with the resources to turn bold ideas into thriving businesses.
  • NSF I-Corps Hub: Interior Northeast Region gives researchers the opportunity to combine their strong technical and scientific knowledge with an entrepreneurial mindset by using resources from the NSF including regional courses and national programs.
  • SBIR/STTR Assistance Program is NYSTAR funded and helps eligible companies, based in New York state, hire a qualified SBIR/STTR consultant to help them develop a proposal.
  • Scale for ClimateTech is a NYSERDA funded program that provides immersive training on manufacturing and business planning, along with a team dedicated to making manufacturing easier — from mentors and experts in the field and product and packaging designers, to manufacturers, suppliers, and investors. Administered by NextCorps and SecondMuse.
  • The Dairy Innovation Program supports dairy entrepreneurs from ideation through to growth by teaching customer discovery, business planning and development, and prototyping.
  • Southern Tier Startup Alliance (STSA) is a member organization of business incubators in the Southern Tier region, working to promote startups and entrepreneurship resources in our region.  
  • Venture for Climate Tech is global nonprofit accelerator recruiting top climate tech innovators worldwide offering hands-on support and a pathway to first customers, pilot programs, and investment.
