Hardware Accelerator Week 6 and 7
During Week 6 and 7 of the Rev: Ithaca Startup Work’s Hardware Accelerator, teams completed Sprint 2: “Proof of Concept.”
Teams spoke with Steven Dourmashkin, Hardware Accelerator alum and CEO of Specdrums. Specdrums makes app-connected rings that turn colors from the real world into musical pitches and sounds that connect wirelessly through their app. Dourmashkin talked to Hardware teams about his experience being acquired by a national robotics firm, Sphero, and how teams can get connected to big-name companies after Hardware Accelerator Demo Day.
On Tuesday, teams attended a workshop focused on data for IoT reporting and analytics. Pingdi Huang, one of the program’s tech instructors and a student majoring in Computer Science at Cornell University, showed the teams how to take raw data collected from smart devices and turn it into a user-friendly visualization for an app.
Teams also shared their weekly cohort presentations and wrapped up Week 7 with an intense design review, during which teams had the opportunity to showcase their product to the entrepreneurs and mentors and gain valuable feedback on how to iterate.
