“It takes a village” may have been the unspoken opening day theme for Ithaca’s first business incubator on September 22, 2014. Stressing collaboration in their remarks, the presidents of Cornell University, Ithaca College, and Tompkins Cortland Community College each emphasized the importance of the three higher education institutions working together to form a joint venture that made the Rev incubator launch possible.
Cornell University President David J. Skorton shared credit for the incubator withPresident Carl E. Haynes, Tompkins Cortland Community College and President Thomas R. Rochon, Ithaca College. Stressing the importance of higher education institutions supporting their local communities, President Skorton noted the valuable contribution they can make to create a vibrant local economy. In turn, the universities benefit because a healthy local economy helps attract both professional staff and students to Cornell, as well as the other respective institutions.
