Who we are

Rev: Ithaca Startup Works is looking for undergraduate or graduate students studying engineering or design to be instructors for its Prototyping and Manufacturing Hardware Accelerators.

Rev Hardware Instructor – Prototyping Accelerator

30-40hrs/week; $17 – $21/hr

Job Description

Interested in working on innovative hardware products, in a hands-on environment? Rev is seeking undergraduate or graduate student instructors to assist with our Summer Prototyping Hardware Accelerator! Candidates in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or product design are preferred, though other backgrounds and skillsets may be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in prototyping and assembling products in ClimateTech, AgTech, MedTech, and various other hardware applications
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team at Rev and startups to advance product development for each company
  • Prototype and test designs for usability and functionality
  • Develop, assemble, and test electronics systems (Arduino or raspberry pi based)
  • Manage and maintain equipment in the shop, including CNCs, Laser cutters, PCBA mills, 3D printers, etc.
  • Train & instruct entrepreneurs on use of prototyping equipment and the hardware development process

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing an engineering or design degree at Cornell University
  • Ability to work 5-20hrs/wk (based on schedule) in person at Rev Ithaca.
  • Experience in makerspace or prototyping settings (electrical, mechanical, or design)
  • Flexible mindset, able to juggle multiple projects and make effective pivots when needed

Rev Hardware Instructor – Manufacturing Accelerator

5-20hrs/week; $17 – $21/hr

Job Description

Rev is seeking undergraduate or graduate student instructors to assist with our Manufacturing Hardware Accelerator during the fall and spring semesters! Candidates in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or product design are preferred, though other backgrounds and skillsets may be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in prototyping and assembling products in ClimateTech, AgTech, and other hardware applications
  • Create and scope projects with Rev product development team to advance hardware products
  • Prototype and test designs for manufacturability, assembly, serviceability, etc.
  • Develop, assemble, and test electronics systems (Arduino or raspberry pi based) or communicate with CMs to convey design intent
  • Request quotes for products and develop drawing sets as appropriate
  • Establish testing plans, timelines, and strategy for scale
  • Manage and maintain equipment in the shop, including CNCs, Laser cutters, PCBA mills, 3D printers, etc.
