SUMMARY:Equity Splits Negotiation: A Case Study Workshop with Dr. Susan Fleming
DESCRIPTION:(Note: Due to the nature of the workshop\, it is critical that you arrive on time AND read the case in detail in advance) \nIt’s time for something new at Rev! Come dig in deep and test your skills with a guided negotiation simulation\, featuring Dr. Susan Fleming. The case in question? Three co-founders must negotiate how to divide the equity of their early-stage company. Participants in this workshop will prepare by downloading and reading a Harvard Business Publishing case study (access to these materials is $5.00) and take on the role of one of the co-founders during the workshop. By working in small groups\, every participant will get to experience the challenge of trying to meet their own goals while compromising with team members who are also critical to the success of the venture. At the end of the workshop\, Dr. Fleming will debrief the exercise\, sharing outcomes from each team\, lessons learned\, insights\, and strategies for the full group. Reach out to events@revithaca.com or Tweet us @RevIthaca. \n— \nDr. Susan Fleming is a Senior Lecturer of Entrepreneurship at Cornell’s School of Hotel Administration with expertise in the areas of finance\, entrepreneurship\, business strategy\, insurance\, negotiation\, organizational behavior and issues of gender diversity. She advises a number of early stage start-ups\, is an active angel investor\, and a member of UNY50. Susan also serves on the board of Virtus Investment Partners\, Inc.\, a publicly traded asset management firm; and Endurance Specialty Holdings\, Ltd.\, a publicly traded global insurance and reinsurance company. Before retiring from Wall Street in 2004\, Susan was a Partner with Capital Z Partners\, L.P.\, a $1.85 billion private equity fund focused on investing in the financial services sector and an Analyst in M&A at Morgan Stanley.
