Who we are

CryoBio is a pre-seed startup pioneering bio-based solutions to protect crops from frost and support sustainable food production in the face of widening climate disruption. Founded in early 2025 by two PhD scientists with expertise in deeptech commercialization, we’ve made substantial traction in technology over the last few months, along with extensive customer traction. We’re proud to be backed by a leading climate deeptech VC, along with advisors and angel investors.

CryoBio is seeking a Bioprocess Scientist to support research and development activities focused on optimizing and scaling its microbial fermentation platform. This role is ideal for a scientifically driven individual who enjoys hands-on experimental work and wants to contribute directly to improving process performance and advancing CryoBio’s technology towards
commercial readiness.

The Bioprocess Scientist will work primarily in CryoBio’s laboratory environment, executing bench-scale experiments and supporting process development initiatives that improve fermentation, downstream processing, and scalability. Working closely with the rest of the CryoBio team, this role plays a key part in generating reliable data, improving process performance and consistency, and translating experimental results into actionable process insights. This position is well suited to a detail-oriented, solution-focused team player who thrives in a collaborative R&D setting.

Job Openings:

  • Process Development & Optimization: Support the optimization of microbial fermentation and downstream processes through systematic experimentation and data-driven analysis, contributing to improved performance, robustness, scalability and cost-efficiency.
  • Scale-Up & Pilot Support: Contribute to the transition of optimized processes from bench scale toward pilot-scale and commercial operation, working closely with external teams.
  • Data Analysis & Communication: Analyze and interpret experimental data, maintain clear experimental records, and communicate findings and recommendations to internal stakeholders.
  • Laboratory Operations & Safety: Support day-to-day laboratory operations, including media preparation and equipment upkeep, while maintaining high standards of safety, documentation, and compliance.
  • Collaboration & Team Contribution: Work collaboratively with the rest of the CryoBio team to support shared research goals and contribute to a positive, high-performing R&D culture.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of two years hands-on experience working with bench- and/or pilot-scale bioprocess systems with practical experience in microbial fermentation, downstream processing, aseptic technique, and laboratory operations.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and executing fermentation and downstream experiments.
  • Strong technical problem-solving skills and a commitment to continuous learning.
